Michigan Trout Report ("the App") is operated by Chris Izworski. This privacy policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

Summary

The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There are no accounts, no logins, no tracking, and no advertising. The App displays publicly available data from government sources.

Data Sources

The App retrieves data from the following public government APIs:

• USGS Water Services (waterservices.usgs.gov): stream flow, water temperature, and gauge height data for Michigan rivers. This is public domain data published by the United States Geological Survey.
• National Weather Service (api.weather.gov): weather forecasts, hourly conditions, and precipitation data. This is public data from NOAA.
• Michigan DNR ArcGIS Open Data (gis-midnr.opendata.arcgis.com): trout stream access points, regulation types, and species information. This is public data from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Information We Collect

The App does not collect any personal information. Specifically:

• No account creation or login is required
• No name, email address, phone number, or other personal identifiers are collected
• No location data is collected from your device (the "Near Me" feature uses pre-computed city zones, not your GPS)
• No cookies are used for tracking purposes
• No analytics or tracking scripts are present
• No advertising networks or ad trackers are integrated

Local Storage

The App uses your device's local storage (localStorage) to save your "Your Rivers" favorites list. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to any server, and can be cleared at any time through your browser or app settings.

Service Worker Caching

The App uses a service worker to cache static pages and recent API responses for offline or poor-connectivity use. Cached data is stored only on your device and is automatically refreshed when a connection is available. No personal data is cached.

Affiliate Links

The App contains links to Amazon.com with an Amazon Associates affiliate tag. If you click these links and make a purchase, the App operator earns a small commission at no additional cost to you. Amazon's own privacy policy governs any data collected during your visit to Amazon. The App does not receive any personal information about your Amazon browsing or purchases.

Third-Party Services

The App is hosted on Vercel (vercel.com). Vercel may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, request timestamps) as part of normal web hosting operations. This data is governed by Vercel's privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App does not collect information from anyone of any age.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Because the App does not collect personal data, material changes are unlikely.
