Chippewa River Michigan Trout Fishing Conditions
Brown Trout
Mecosta/Isabella/Midland County river. Tittabawassee tributary with some brown trout in cooler sections near Mt. Pleasant. Multiple gauges along its length.
The Chippewa River flows through Isabella and Midland counties, passing through Mt. Pleasant before joining the Tittabawassee River. Cold springs in the upper reaches support brown trout, particularly in the sections above Mt. Pleasant and along the North Branch.
Four USGS gauges provide excellent coverage along the river's length, from the upper reaches near Drew Road through Mt. Pleasant to the lower sections near Midland. An accessible option for central Michigan anglers. Spring and fall offer the best trout fishing.
