The Red Cedar River flows west through Ingham County, passing through Williamston and the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing before joining the Grand River. The cold upper sections near Williamston hold wild brown trout, making it an accessible option for Lansing-area anglers.

Not a destination stream, but a solid local option. The upper reaches above Williamston have the coldest water and best trout habitat. Spring and fall are the productive windows. Urban/suburban in the lower reaches, more rural and fishable upstream.
