This Sturgeon River (distinct from the Sturgeon near Sidnaw and the Sturgeon near Wolverine) flows through Alger and Delta counties in the central UP. It passes through Nahma Junction before reaching Lake Michigan. Brook trout inhabit the cold headwater sections, with some browns in the middle reaches.

A quieter, less-known UP stream that rewards anglers willing to explore. The upper sections through state forest hold native brook trout in small, canopied water. Best fished with short rods and small dry flies. Spring and early summer are the productive windows.
