Gamble Creek flows through the Rifle River Recreation Area in Ogemaw County and sees significantly less angling pressure than the main Rifle despite holding similar brown trout populations. DNR research since the 1950s has tracked trout here alongside Klacking and Houghton creeks.

Hiking upstream from the Recreation Area roads puts you on water that most anglers never see. The creek is small enough that accurate short casts and careful wading matter more than fly selection. Attractor dries (#14-16 Adams, Royal Wulff) work well in the riffles, with small nymphs (#16-18 Pheasant Tail) in the deeper pools.
