Brook Trout
Brown Trout
Chippewa County stream flowing south from Rudyard area. Brook trout in cold upper sections. Accessible eastern UP water often overlooked by anglers heading to the Tahquamenon.
The Pine River near Rudyard flows through Chippewa County in the eastern UP, south of Sault Ste. Marie. Brook trout occupy the cold upper reaches, with browns in the middle sections. A modest stream that receives light pressure compared to the more famous waters to the west.
Good brook trout water for anglers passing through the eastern UP. County road crossings provide access. Spring and early summer fish best. Small dry flies and nymphs are the standard approach. Not a destination stream, but a solid option when you are in the area.
